GDS Technologies' 5 kW back-up generator.
In preparation for Sterling's trip to see GDS Technologies' 5 kW
I'm posting what I hope to do, so that you can chime in as to the adequacy, inadequacy of that plan. We hope to have this visit be as convincing as possible, to remove the skepticism that: 1) this is a working exotic free energy technology; 2) GDS really is moving into manufacturing phase; 3) if you make a 50% deposit, you really will get one.

Technologies has invited me to Toronto, Ontario, Canada to see their 5 kW
back-up free energy generator (harnesses the wheelwork of nature in an
unconventional way) and tour their manufacturing facility. (Arrival date not
This morning, I composed the following email to Gregory Potter, CEO, to begin a
dialogue about the particulars of my visit. I'm posting it here publicly to
allow my audience to chime in if they want, to help make sure we are as thorough
and convincing as possible.
We hope to have this visit be as convincing as possible, to remove the
skepticism that 1) this is a real, working exotic free energy technology; 2) GDS
really is moving into manufacturing phase; 3) if you put a 50% deposit down for
one (mention PES for a small discount), you really will get it. Regarding the
latter, remember that GDS encourages people come see it for themselves before
they put down a deposit for one.

I greatly appreciate your invitation to come out.
In anticipation of my trip to see GDS, I wanted to confirm a few things.
My understanding is that the primary purpose for my going will be to do
a solid test of a 5 kW generator to the satisfaction of the reasonable
skeptics, and videotape the test to put online for the sake of others
for whom a trip is much more difficult than it is for me. The posted
videos would be at least two: 1) a brief overview, e.g. 5-10 minutes
that catches the highlights; 2) a full-length video showing the duration
of the test (e.g. livestream feed that YouTube makes available,
I don't know the set-up on your end, but I would anticipate the
following parameters in doing the test. I will have my cell phone on me
to catch any incoming Skype messages with suggestions during the testing
and tour. [To the audience: if you want to communicate with me during
the test and tour, be sure you're hooked up with me or Stuart Campbell
(who can relay to me) on Skype. I won't be in much of a
position to interact with incoming messages, such as to approving
contact requests or respond to comments. We'll have a blog
page online set up where you can chat in real time. I'll trust Stuart to
notify me of anything that requires my input. Please keep your input to
me to a minimum: only crucial things. Keep the comments and chit chat to

- I would like to set up a web cam so that people can watch
the duration of the test online.
- Do a comprehensive overview (video and photos) of the
generator and its components, outside and inside the cabinet.
- Be able to look inside various compartments to see the
inner items of the system. The most thorough version of this would
take place primarily before and/or after the test run. But I would
like to do periodic checks during the test as well, of things like
batteries, for example.
- CONTINUOUS RUN TEST
- Be able to run a full 5 kW load, or close to it.
- Be able to run the generator continuously, without
stopping, for at least 4 hours, hopefully longer, under
observation. (I'd like to run it for 6-8 hours, ideally.)
- Be able to move the generator during the test, or at least
immediately before or after, to show that there are no hidden wires
going up to it from the floor. Ideally, we'd be able to move it
every ~15 minutes for the sake of those watching on the live stream.
- Be able to test before/during/after voltages on any
battery(s) in the system.
- Be able to isolate the single or three-phase wires going to the
load to test amperage going to them via a clamp-on amp meter.
- LOAD TESTING (After the full 5 kW load test run)
- I'd like to plug the load(s) into power coming from the mains,
to compare the readings.
- I'd like to take at least an hour to test the system to see
how well it is able to handle changes in load (from a
practicality point of view), so I would be plugging and unplugging
some of the load and testing how the amperage, volts, and
frequency changes or not, going to existing loads.
- I also want to test various kinds of resistive loads (lights,
resistive heaters) and inductive loads (motors), as well
as things like CFL bulbs, to see that they function properly
running from the 5 kW generator.
- (OPTIONAL) TEST GENERATOR DURABILITY TO DESTRUCTION
(I'd like to do some idiot testing on the resilience of the
generator, unless you already have had such tests done and can show me
the results of those tests. I would guess that your ESA certifications
included at least some of these kinds of tests.)
- While the system is running, move it around, gently.
- While the system is running, tip it over, on its side (with
something soft to land on, to prevent denting). I would expect that
the water would run out and get on electrical components. I'll be
looking for how well the emergency shut-off and breaker switches
- After tipping it on its side, then restoring it to a
right-side-up position, I'd like to see if we can refill the reservoir
and then run it again. (In other words, if it tips over for a
customer, without damaging the hardware by the fall, will they not be able to use it again because of water on circuitry
causing circuitry shorts or other non-resolvable electrical
- (Intentionally, to destruction) While it's running, move it
around rigorously, intentionally jolting it severely, so see how
much abuse it will handle. This testing could include pushing
it over with force while running so it lands abruptly on a concrete
- (Will need to be a second unit that we can test to destruction.) If
we have time, and there is the weather or other below-freezing
accommodations we can use, I would like to test the system to see
how it recovers after the water has been allowed to freeze in the reservoir.
Will that destroy it, or is it designed to handle that?
This latter section raised some questions for me regarding operation at
below-freezing temperatures. I doubt we'll have the time or
resources to run these tests while we're there. I would
imagine the generator could operate to well below freezing as
long as it is running. In situations where the generator is situated
outside, what will you be recommending to customers? Anti-freeze?
Also, I'm curious how many test/demo generators you have on hand. From a
redundancy point of view, I would hope you have several.
I'm Cc'ing ***, who lives there in Oshawa and posted a video
link in the comments of our story, where he drove by to confirm that
there really is your GDS marquee sign out front. He also noted a
security person in a car at the entrance.
If it's okay, I'd like to involve him (and/or another guy from Toronto
we're in touch with) in our testing, to provide things like
multimeters, clamp-on amp meter, and a load. He's suggesting that the heater listed in
would be an ideal load, being just 200 W shy of 5k.
He could probably help us locate somewhere that we could place the
generator to test how it recovers from below-freezing temperatures with
water in the reservoir, if you are okay with us running that test.
What do you usually use for a load for demonstrations? That part is not
crucial for us to bring independent equipment. What is important
(not inextricably so) is that we be able to isolate the wires going
to the load to test the amperage going to them.
Also, from a general business stand-point
(separate from specific business conversations with *** and/or *** about
their manufacturing/distribution interest), while I'm there, I'm hoping
to be able to do the following, either publicly, or under NDA if needed.
I'd like to videotape as much of this as possible. It would be nice to
know ahead of time how much of this I'll be able to videotape.
- See how many of the 5 kW systems are presently on hand
- See documentation of any 5 kW systems that have already been sold
and installed (e.g. beta testing)
- Get contact information (with permission) of some customers/testers
to consult with them about their experience
- See your lease agreement
- See your ESA certification documents
- See any third party testing documents you might have
- Get a tour of your facility
- Meet at least your key personnel
- Mechanical team
- Engineering team
- Business team
- See your manufacturing sequence: in real time, as presently constituted,
if you have anything presently under way; or at least the plans
you have prepared for it in the future

story, a guy who lives there in Oshawa posted a video
of a drive-by he did of GDS Technologies' 313,500
sq. ft. manufacturing facility
with rail access.
