NEST logo contest voting

Vote for the logo design you like the most for the New Energy Systems Trust (NEST), whose website is scheduled to be launched May 11.

by Sterling D. Allan
Pure Energy Systems News

On May 4, upon announcing the May 1 launch of the New Energy Systems Trust (NEST), we announced a logo contest in preparation for our scheduled May 11 website launch.

Here's our mission statement:

"New Energy Systems Trust (NEST) is an association for matching up the best exotic free energy technologies, business professional services, financing, licensees, and customers (which includes everyone). We are preemptively setting up a network to help facilitate the rapid emergence into the marketplace of breakthrough, affordable, clean energy technologies. The emergence of these devices can empower the individual, remove our dependence on oil and other polluting energy sources and corrupt political systems, create jobs, and inspire hope for a peaceful, sustainable future in which we can thrive in harmony with the earth."

We've received several excellent logo designs, and now we'd like to get your input on which one you like the best and think we should use.

The first one was submitted by Mike Broussard of Synergy IT Group, Inc., with several revisions based on our feedback. The problem with his design is that the fine details that look great in a larger version don't scale down very well.

Here's his earlier version:

While it looks neat in a larger form, it wouldn't reduce well to a smaller size.

Glad to see what James Rodney came up with, inspired by his design, he withdrew from the contest. Today, he wrote:

"Personally, I would rather have Jim's design win and no need to enter mine in, since they're based on the same thing. I was happy to contribute and give ideas that others could expand upon. That's good enough for me.

"Thank you so much for your hard work. It is much appreciated."

The next submission was from Jim Rodney of James Rodney Creative, who has volunteered to do the graphics for the NEST website. For those that are familiar with the E-Cat Case Design Competition, he was the one who came up with one of the best 5 kW E-Cat module designs.

He wrote:

"1. I had in mind paying some modicum of "homage" to the old logo.
2. I tend to go for 3D dimensional looking things, especially for logos.
3. It seemed the torus idea that Mike initiated was well liked - this is a different take on it, defined by metallic rings, like some kind of free energy machine thing : ) Actually, according to Foster Gamble in [the movie] "Thrive", the torus is the archetypal energy pattern of nature itself. He goes into this in some detail
4. Didn't add text but easily done - as are other changes.

He offered several versions, including with and without drop shadow, with and without background sparks. Even though the background arc won't scale too well to smaller sizes, I really like that version. I also like that the logo hearkens back to our PES logo.

Next, we heard from Charles Braud of Minnesota, USA, who runs  He wrote:

"I have been a fan of your site for sometime now and have decided [to] whip up a logo idea for your New Energy Systems Trust logo contest."

We then got an email from Pasi Loukas of in Finland, who wrote:

"I would like to submit this logo proposal for your consideration as the new NEST logo.

It has energy symbolism, energy glow and hot metal glow, nest symbolism with stylized eagle's wings. The sigma symbol is used as an e, and it depicts two poles of a magnet with digitalish outlook, it also symbolizes a timeglass.

The image is included both as a .jpg file, and also as a .png file with transparent background.

Best Wishes"

Finally, my brother-in-law, Kevn Lambson of IdeaStudiosLLC in Colorado, USA, who came up with our PES logo that we've all loved so much, gave his shot at the NEST logo.

I like how there is a subtle heart shape in the nuclear orbit. I also like what he did with the NEST text. I like the pose of the eagle.

The eagle has some good symbolism as far as animals/birds go.

"American Indians see the eagle as a sacred messenger that carries prayers to the Creator and returns with gifts and visions. We use eagles feathers to connect to this majestic and powerful spirit guide as we know the eagle feather holds cleansing and healing powers. The eagle is seen by many cultures as a symbol of courage, vision, strength and endurance

"Freedom is vital to the survival of the eagle and this teaches us that all people must be free to choose their own paths; to worship as the Creator leads them; and to respect the freedom of others.

"As a lesson in balance and equality, both female and male eagles care for their young.

"The eagle teaches us to have the courage to strive for greater heights of spirituality. The Eagle is seen by American Indians as a connection to the Great Mystery - The Creator of all things."

NEST VP, Ray Jennings, said: "I don't have any tattoos. I never felt compelled to get one. But I'll tell you all right now, if that wins, it's going to be my first."  I told him that whether or not this one wins, it would make a great tattoo, and even I am tempted as well.

Okay, here's a poll for you to vote on which of the above four you like best. You can also go to the poll here to see a graphic layout of the poll results, stats by country, and comments (feel free to post your comments below, as well).

Honorable Mention

Here are a couple of others that came in.

NEST board member and retired Aerospace engineer, Jim Schmidt, sketched out this one, saying: "The word 'NEST' is fitted into the infinity sign with two opposing vortices in the middle representing access to zero point energy." And he wrote: "NEST is the incubator of great ideas from the infinite universal mind with the opposing vortexes representing the extraction of free energy form the the vacuum within the Cosmic Egg of the Universe."

And Paul Von Stetina came up with this one:

This next one was posted down below in the comments by Kevin Marinas (a.k.a. kmarinas86) shortly after we announced this page. He said: "I aimed to design an cosmos/racing-styled logo for NEST.

Here's another that came in late May 08, 2012 11:15 PM MDT by email from Aaron Swanson:

Then, on May 09, 2012 6:43 PM, MDT, Andy Head of Top Banana Design wrote:

Is the logo contest already over?
I thought you just announced the trust on May 1st.
There was no mention of a deadline, that I saw.
Oh well.

Here's the idea (in black & white) I was developing for what it's worth…

Logo Concept (a simple iconic design): A cross section of a torus created by the silhouette of two eggs.
High contrast, so it's easy to read at any scale.

On May 10, 2012 1:15 PM MDT, Gintaras Sruogius of Lithuania submitted this one:

On May 10, 2012 8:40 PM MDT, Dinh Hoang Giang wrote:

Dear Sterling D.Allan !
I am a engineer in Vietnam. I am very happy that NEST has lunch. I also completed a design of electromagnetic OU devices and is building a prototype, then sends the file to the USPTO, the first. I sent you a sample of the NEST logo. When designing the electrical equipment from OU my success, I will contact you later.

-The word NEST is red color : symbolizes the revolutionary of energy technologies
-4 curving green road: formation of the flag symbolizes the strong development of the NEST
-This forms logo is simple, beautiful, meaningful and easy in several presentations
-Can be presented easily in many different fields

Best regard and success NEST on worldwide.

Logo Selected

I should tell you that in our 1 pm MDT meeting on May 10, the NEST admin group voted to adopt Jim Rodney's design, which has been getting around half of all votes. So the decision has been made.

Thanks for all of your excellent input. It's been fun. Stay tuned for the launch of the site tomorrow.

This will mean that if say, someone posted a reply a week after a comment was posted, then it will appear before the original post does (in other words jumbling up will occur in the normal Parent/Child pattern of replies) and comments will not follow a logical order. However, comments you have made/make in Disqus since the changeover date will appear in the normal order of appearance.
