Obama's hollow urge to accelerate clean energy transition

While Obama urged the country to accelerate the pace toward adopting clean energy technologies that can free us from our addition to oil, which with the BP Gulf disaster has demonstrated to carry such a huge and increasing cost, in practice, his administration has ignored true breakthroughs.

The views expressed are those of the author and not necessarily those of the New Energy Congress colleagues and advisors.

In his first address from the Oval Office since he became President of the United States a year and a half ago, Barack Obama urged the country last night to accelerate the pace toward adopting clean energy technologies that can free us from our addition to oil, which with the BP Gulf disaster has demonstrated to carry such a huge and increasing cost.

This wasn't just one of many topics of his 17-minute address, it was the primary subject.

While I applaud the gesture, I must also comment on the emptiness of the gesture when it comes to the true breakthroughs of which I am aware from my vantage point of covering free energy technologies for the past eight years, focusing on the 'outside the box' types of technologies.

I can say that nothing has changed in the Obama administration from the previous administration when it comes to paying attention to and supporting true breakthroughs in free energy technology.  Like the administration before his, the Obama administration has ignored technologies that aren't mere small advancements in the conventional renewable arena.  'Edgy', to them, is some new geothermal approach, or ocean wave energy, for example.

Never once has someone from the government contacted me to ask how they might help us scout out and vet cutting edge free energy technologies.  And every attempt to contact them has been futile.

From my perspective, the reason for this oversight isn't just academic stuffiness, being bashful about paying attention to things that appear to require a new look at the laws of physics as we know them.  It is because the present administration is well entrenched in the New World Order conspiracy to establish a world socialist dictatorship, with environmentalism being the rallying point for giving up national sovereignty and freedom.

True energy solutions that empower the individual and free us from dependence on a national grid are anathema to such control freaks.  The U.S. government is in bed with the oil interests when it comes to pushing for a more Orwellian world, with them at the controls.  The dream of freedom upon which the U.S. was founded has been overshadowed by a bunch of criminals who think nothing of destroying the environment if it serves their agenda of promoting their New World Order.  They only pay lip service to taking care of the planet to the extent that it serves their political agenda for increasing control over our lives.

The reason I bother to bring up this unsavory view is so that those of you who have breakthrough technologies will not be disappointed when you find hindrance where you thought you should get help.  You'll want to look to the Maverick private sector for a friendly response.

I'm not saying that there will not be a trickle of help coming from the U.S. government, because I know of at least one case where they are taking indirect measures to support one of the breakthroughs, but those are the exception, not the rule.  As long as the corrupt forces are running he show, the general climate will be unfriendly toward true breakthroughs; but it's possible that some of the breakthroughs could play a role in unseating the corruption, opening channels for more friendly elements to replace them.

Here's Obama's address to the nation: | Read the Transcript

For the reasons stated above, though I am skeptical of Obama's seeming sincerity, I will say that I'm glad he gave this message to the nation as it will certainly help move us toward cleaner technology and away from our addiction to oil.  Pursuing solar, wind and other conventional renewable energy technologies with more vigor is certainly better than persisting in our addiction to oil; and there is a ripple effect that as more people become urgent in the need for clean energy, more will be amenable to the exotic modalities that can make a much more significant impact.

I was especially touched by his closing appeal to prayer, God, and faith for pulling through this difficult crisis.  If only he genuinely believed in those things.  Unfortunately, it's probably no more genuine than his Hawaiian birth certificate.

Just how big is that gusher in the Gulf of Mexico? - After having been pasted by hecklers on Slashdot, saying that riser was only 21 inches in diameter, not five feet, so his estimates on the oil flowing from the BP well must have been wrong, Paul Noel rebuts with additional information that confirms that the this gusher has been releasing more oil every day than the Exxon Valdez catastrophe. A volcano of oil erupting - New video showing largest hole from pipe 5 feet in diameter spewing oil and natural gas at ~4 barrels per second, along with analysis of the amount of oil on the surface, supports the estimates closer to 1 million barrels per day erupting from this hole BP popped in the ocean floor that contains trillions of barrels of oil and natural gas. Mother gusher danger not passed - With BP applying several fixes to the leaking well and the spreading oil, people might tend to classify this spill as "just another spill" among so many, which will go away after a while. A bigger blowout is still a very real possibility, and the repercussions of the oil spilt are far-reaching. (PESN; May 6, 2010)

No joke: Goldman Sachs shorted Gulf of Mexico - It turns out that Goldman Sachs really did place shorts on TransOcean stock days before the explosions rocked the rig in the Gulf of Mexico sending stocks plunging while GS profits soared -- benefitting once again from a huge disaster, having done the same with airline stocks prior to 911 then again with the housing bubble. Mother of all gushers could kill Earth's oceans - Imagine a pipe 5 feet wide spewing crude oil like a fire hose from what could be the planets' largest, high-pressure oil and gas reserve. With the best technology available to man, the Deepwater Horizon rig popped a hole into that reserve and was overwhelmed. If this isn't contained, it could poison all the oceans of the world. Deepwater Horizon debacle pushes alt energy - In addition to devastating ecological despoiling, the oil slick could shut down Mississippi River transport, effecting nearly half of U.S. import/export commerce. The damage to the tourism industry in Alabama and Florida could top $25 Billion a year for several years. Faced with this disaster the Obama Administration has just stopped all off shore drilling.
