Project Home 2010 Video Shows Levitating Magnet-Propelled Vehicle

A project featuring two Australian 12-year-old inventors beginning in 1999 posted a video Wednesday of what is labeled as a magnet-powered vehicle (RC toy size) buzzing through the snow, mud and a creek.  Even more astonishing is that it is also shown apparently levitating.

Last November, we built a feature page about Project Home 2010, which alleges to have an anti-gravity technology as well as a magnetic propulsion technology, developed by a couple of young Australian students (now in the U.S.), who were just twelve at the beginning of the project in 1999 -- a project that is to culminate in 2010, hence the name.  I thought I saw a photo of something levitating, but when we went to create the feature page, I couldn't find it again.

After Robert Pritchett built the page, it seemed to me that the project was just another well-meaning, hope-based visionary claim or objective with no actual devices manifest.  We sent some questions to the group and eventually received a reply, which seemed genuine enough.  We posted it on the discussion page.  And because our graphic artist, Kevn Lambson, had built a great-looking image for the page, on Jan. 10, we went ahead and featured the page, with the caveat at the top of the page: "Status: Most likely bogus".

Our news bullet on January 10, 2008 was as follows:

  • Featured: Grand Unified Theories / Anti Gravity / Magnet Motors >
Project Home 2010 - The objective of the project is to succeed with an experiment in relativity to prove out the realities of the universe by developing a magnetic propulsion and anti-gravity system, yielding a vehicle that could levitate above the ground on a cushion of self-generated magnetized air. Project to be completed in 2010. (PESWiki; Nov. 10, 2008)

Then today, when I was checking the latest changes to the PESWiki site, I noticed via the history tab that there had been some changes made to that page.  A video link had been added, and the status message had been changed to "validated."  The video is posted at YouTube by user EnvirotechEA, the sponsoring organization, Envirotech E.A. LTD, also of Australia.

It shows a miniature, 4-wheeled vehicle about 14 inched long and 6 inches wide, with tires of around 4.5 inches in diameter.  The video shows the vehicle speeding along on a snowy path, with the caption: "Magnetic-Powered Project Home 2010 Vehicle."  A laptop computer is shown, which is apparently controlling the vehicle remotely.

Next is a scene in which the vehicle appears to be floating stationary in the air, unperturbed (compared, say, to a small balloon, which would be jostled by the slightest breeze).  It's so unusual, it doesn't look real.  My first reaction was to think there must be some kind of illusion or video doctoring going on.  It appears to be suspended about 1.5 feet in the air.  A guy walks up to the device and waves his hand under and around it, though not from every approach.  Then he presses his hand down on it, and though it moves a little, it actually appears to be resisting his push with quite a bit of force, as if it might sustain at least a 10 to 25-lb additional force against it.  When he pushes it from the side, it moves about an inch but then seems to spring back to its prior position.  The force required to offset it horizontally didn't seem to be nearly as much as its ability to resist a vertical change in elevation.

The captions say: "guidance computers control vehicle 'drifting' in lev mode." Then "Lev height controlled by EMF focal positioning", and finally: "vehicle 'bobbing' over object is stable."

I've sent a message to the group via their YouTube channel and via the user emailing function at PESWiki.  Lots of questions.

I suggested that they shoot another video and show the vehicle lifting off the ground, then returning to the ground.  They should also show that there are no connections or supports from any direction.  I asked them if it is possible for the vehicle to move while in the air -- if they are able to control its position.

I'm also curious about their magnetic propulsion which is allegedly how the thing is buzzing along the ground.

They apparently envision this being able to withstand rugged use, showing it driving through mud; and at the end of the video the vehicle goes plowing into a stream.

If this is a real technology, I hope they will not allow the military to gobble it up for war-making purposes alone.  This should be used for civilian use, to bring us the future world of the Jetsons that we anticipated as kids.

Green Screen Fake

After visiting the [above] article, I came to the conclusion is a fake... nice one but still a fake.

Just a tip to debunk this fake... Try check about blue screen special effect. I noticed something very odd about the light, shadow, deep field vision in the video, the strange silhouette when the gir appear in the video. And after that I did remember seeing the same odd artifacts from videos that use green screen FX.

If you check other videos that use these FXs and after that check the youtube video you will can spot the odds artifacts :)

Ages & Documentation

We understand that there will be skeptics. That is how it goes whenever something new is discovered. The students' birthdates do appear for a brief second in the video on the identification plates in their compartments in the vehicle. The colleges they attend have all their records as well and can verify that.

The project has always been called none other than Project Home 2010 as 2010 is when the research grant runs out. Also, Envirotech E.A. LTD is the name of our company funding Project Home 2010 and the college educations of John Obik and Matthew Mitchel Urquhart in full to a 4-year degree.

Envirotech E.A. LTD sent funding from Australia via wire transfer to Springfield College in Massachusetts for the 2 students in 2002 when they were 15, and their prototype magnetic powered scale robots were popular there. There are also many legal documents from our company at U.S. Social Security from 2002-2004 where we had to clear up some problems caused by Matthew's father, Donald Jr. who is 42 now and possibly living in California.

We have developed the technology in order to succeed with the task in 2010. The magnetic powered machines are part of that solution. Any way these accomplishments can help society is a good thing.

I can assure you that this technology is real

On March 22, 2009, J.J. of Envirotech E.A. LTD wrote (via YouTube contact)

It's nice to hear from you. I can assure you that this technology is real and there are no tricks. The video could include more if not for YouTube having a 1-Gig max size. We may be able to shoot more footage as time allows. With 2010 getting close we have been very busy, and the PH10V is currently being used for work on the project. This work is currently unpatented so we have to be careful with that at this point. The 2 students have devoted 10 years of their lives to it. The 2 students were 12 in 1999 and Matthew completed high school via GED by special arrangement with the board of education that year. Also in 1999 both students attended a Saturday class at a science center in Avon Connecticut. The 2 students are now 22 (2009) and are preparing to transfer to the state university this fall. This work has been continuously underway since 1999.

The 1:20 scale model is the exact scale working replica of the full size vehicle we have in the Project Home 2010 lab. All of the propulsion power is 1:20 scale that of the full size vehicle (Mass x acceleration = Newtons of force) The levitation is controlled by finding the vectors that make the net force = 0 and the vectors are positioned by the EMF focal point positioning which is how the vehicle steers. The wheels are only gliding wheels when in 'line' mode. The vehicle can transverse while in 'Lev' mode. The tow line cable attached to the front is for work we are using the vehicle for in Project Home 2010. The video did have a soundtrack to it, but it was a song by ZZ Top and we were worried about copyright laws on YouTube regarding the use of the song.

The field is generated below the vehicle therefore anything that enters the field becomes part of the field. It is not like a barrier that objects cannot penetrate. The demonstration over water surface shows levitation over water where the water becomes part of the field. The focal points lock magnetic moments in the mediums that vector from ground to vehicle at the programmed height. The 1:20 scale model has working control panels inside the control compartments that are interfaced by radio control through the polycarbonate body. The language of the computers are raw machine language so the laptops also have software to adapt the keys to the machine commands.

Bogus Company Name

On March 22, 2009 pm, Max Zornada wrote:

You recently featured an article called "Project Home 2010 Video Shows Levitating Magnet-Propelled Vehicle". In this article it was claimed that it is sponsored by an Australian organisation called Envirotech E.A. LTD.

It may be of interest to know that no such organisation or business bearing this name exists or has ever existed in Australia. You can go to https://www.search.asic.gov.au/gns001.html where you can search for every business name and/or organisation that currently exists or has existed in the past in Australia and you will find no Envirotech E.A. LTD. In addition, the designation of LTD implying a company delimited by shares is incorrect for Australia. In Australia, such companies are required to append the terms Pty Ltd. to their name. This suggests that their claim to be an Australian company is bogus and very likely everything presented in the video is likely to be bogus as well.

Most Likely Illusion

On March 21, 2009 pm, a reader wrote:

Be really careful with this one. I'm a video producer, videographer, editor etc. but mostly I am a fan of magic tricks. This toy is suspended, most likely by a support rod, as the famous magic trick of levitating a woman and passing a hoop over her. The rod is bent just right to be hidden in each of the separate shots. Notice the camera moves VERY little and never circles the device. That's because it would reveal the support rod. There are several separate shots of it floating, springy like. That's the torsion on the rod from hand pressure or air movement. It's done nicely, but google something like "floating lady magic trick" and see if details and diagrams don't come up. If you have no luck at that, tell me and I'll find you a diagram. Remember the antigravity "speeder" that Luke Skywalker "drove" around? If you'll look closely, it, too, had that springy effect. It was mounted on a support arm and connected to a truck off camera. A few other effects were used to make it look real. Same effect as here. The hoverboard in Back To The Future also used a similar method. Good luck.

Same Story 8 Years Ago

On March 21, 2009 am, Sterling Allan wrote:
March 29, 2009 Note: Evidence has been provided in support of this allegation.

I received a phone call today from a person who wishes to remain anonymous, who claims to have been involved with this (now called) Project Home 2010 ten eight years ago.  They were hitting him up for some funding at that time, in part to help the boys get their college education.  He said that at that time, the two guys were allegedly in their late teens.  The photos they showed him then were of what looks like the very same device shown above, even in the same type of setting: out in a wooded area, with leaves on the ground; but no snow.  He said that in watching the above video and claims that it was as if he was transported back ten years -- same story, same device, same guys.

If his account is credible, it cast doubt on the above claimed accomplishment from an integrity point of view.  The boys were not twelve in 1999, they were in their late teens -- early college age.  Perhaps they have dusted off what they had going and are now making another run at it.  But why would they need to fib about their age?
