Steve Kaplan, member of the New Energy Congress, and Vice President the New Energy Movement (.org), 501c3, has been invited to present a paper at an alternative energy conference in Berlin on March 16, 2006.  This just materialized due to a cancellation of another speaker.
He will be speaking about some of the "lesser-known" yet viable energy technologies.
This will be good coverage of the field to a mainstream, yet receptive audience.
Inasmuch as the conference budget is already maxed, Steve needs to somehow drum up enough funds to make the trip.  He thinks he can do it for $1500.
If you can help, he would be most appreciative.  The donations can be passed through the NEM's non-profit status, for a tax write-off.

Please contact him if you can help out in this matter.

Subject: Fwd: Proposal for support for trip to Germany

In this letter I asked for $2000. I now think I could pull off the trip if I raised $1500.

Subject: Proposal for support for trip to Germany

Dear Bob:

Here's the proposal I promised to send. I am seeking $2000 to cover the cost of traveling to Germany to present a paper on New Energy R&D to a conference on Southern Africa's
Energy Future: Investment, Environment & Innovation. This conference, which is scheduled for March 16, 2006, is being presented Omega Investment Research, headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa. For more information about the
conference, go to

Omega Investment Research was founded by a graduate school friend of mine, Dennis Worrall. Denis is prominent in South African public life, having served in the legislature and as South Africa's Ambassador to England. I have been providing information him with information on new energy. This is an entirely new field for him and his associates. I suggested to him that any conference dealing with energy
investment and innovation would be incomplete without an overview of the exciting developments in new energy R&D. I will know soon whether I will be put on the conference program.

I do know Omega Investment Research no longer has any funds to bring me over to the conference. The organization may be able to provide lodging. I still want to go because the conference provides an opportunity to educate government leaders and investors dealing with energy issues relating to Southern Africa. The implications of the new sources of energy now coming forth is immense for the developing world in general and Southern Africa in particular.

A secondary, but equally important, purpose for my trip would be to research new energy
R&D advances in Europe, particularly Germany, which has been a center for exciting work.
I already know several Germans and one American who are prominent in the field with whom I will want to converse. I intend to prepare a report on my inquiry to be published by NEM.

I appreciate any assistance you can provide in seeking donors of the $2000 I am seeking.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this request.
