Medical Need:
Azerbaijan patent for sale for an estimated 15x overunity buoyancy technology

Desperation over a needed medical procedure is pushing Sayad Mammadov Abdulla to offer to sell the rights to his patent. Problem is, the overunity claim is only mathematical extrapolation, not experimentally achieved; nor does he have access to the demo prototype; and the awarded patent is nearly 19 years old.

Half a year ago, we published this feature page about a technology in Azerbaijan that is similar to the Rosch KPP technology which we personally validated.

I've been in contact off and on with the inventor, Sayad Mammadov Abdulla.

Yesterday, he said that due to the deterioration of his health he's looking at urgent medical expenses ranging from $80,000 to $100,000 USD; so he has been put in a position of needing to sell his patent.

I argued that instead of selling his patent, maybe someone would be willing to invest in his company, to get a certain percentage of the company, with the understanding that this money would be going toward his medical expenses. A contract could be written with wording to the effect that if the medical procedure does not go well, then the majority or controlling ownership of the technology goes to the investor. But if Sayad recovers and is able to be functional again, then he would retain a controlling portion of the company.

He claims that one of his prototypes could conceivably produce (calculated by extrapolation) 288 kilowatts with just 18.5 kilowatts input required. That's more than 15x more energy output than input. Note: that was not the actual output measured. He provides his experimental set-up and calculations (2).

One significant thing he has in his favor is that he was awarded a patent in Azerbaijan. The downside is that it was given in Jan. 14, 1997, so it's just a little over a year from expiring.

Here's a diagram of the experimental set-up.

Another downer is that he presently is not on good terms with the people who have the prototype; so it is unavailable for testing.

I told him that I thought it very unlikely that he would find any takers, but that I would at least put his offer out there.

In conclusion, here are some upsides:

  • Technology is similar to the Rosch KPP which we personally validated
  • Has a patent
  • Built a prototype which gave preliminary results with interesting extrapolations

Here are some downsides:

  • The Rosch KPP involves several proprietary aspects that make it work that are most likely not included in the SaDaiM system. Also, the Rosch KPP has undergone far more R&D improvement and refinement. It's way beyond its first full demonstratable prototype.
  • Never finished the experimental tests, so no measured output:input data has been obtained. The calculated numbers are based on extrapolations of experimental cross sections.
  • The patent is nearly expired. Sayad doesn't have a link to an electronic version of the patent. He only has a hard copy, which would have to be translated. That is the only version of "blueprints" for the technology.
  • Prototype is unavailable.
  • Inventor is in need of medical attention. Precarious situation.

Given how low the likelihood is that anyone with the amount of money he is looking for will pay that kind of money under these conditions, I think Sayad would be better off just open sourcing the technology. Tell the world how he does this. If people find that it really works, then it is likely that a fundraiser for his medical expenses could be successful, in gratitude for his sharing this with the planet.

On top of that, as I always recommend for sharing of technology like this, I would recommend that the wording for the open sourcing include requesting a 5% royalty on all sales involving the project, whether plans, kits, components, completed units, franchises, servicing, manufacturing, etc.

ADVISORY: With any technology, you take a high risk to invest significant time or money unless (1) independent testing has thoroughly corroborated the technology, (2) the group involved has intellectual rights to the technology, and (3) the group has the ability to make a success of the endeavor.
