Rosch 15 kW KPP Demo Report: June 19

In my assessment, Rosch Innovations AG's KPP technology, as demonstrated by their "15 kW" system today, works as claimed. They fork lifted the air compressor off the ground to show there are no wires coming to it from there; and an IR camera showed no wires going to/from it from under the concrete. Tomorrow...

Uploading a video which shows the following.

Today, we attended the Rosch Innovations KPP technology demonstration -- a buoyancy device involving floats that fill with air at the bottom of a water tank to cause them to rise, turning a generator in the process, such that the system self-loops while also producing excess energy for base load power production.

The system was producing 18 kW continuously, powering several lights and heaters.

They turned it on for us when we arrived at around 1 pm. (I had my driver take me straight to Rosch rather than to the hotel first.) The main person running the machinery, doing the demo, was Andrzej Klimek (we'll call him "Andre" here.)

Andre started the system by taking an air hose from the wall, powered by mains power, and hooking it up to the air tank of the air compressor. He then went over to a ~1-foot disc attached to the bottom sprocket shaft of the chain assembly from the KPP tower, and turned it manually to get the system to start physically moving. The compressed air from the mains then brought the system up to speed in about one minute.

Once the generator was running at its rated speed ~750 rpm, Andre turned on the air compressor, which is plugged into the power coming from the generator. He then disconnected the air hose coming from mains power.

At this point, the system was self-running.

To show that it is self-running, with no hidden wires, the following measures were done...

  • A forklift was used to lift the air compressor to show there were no wires running to it from the floor.
  • Stuart's Flir infrared camera was used to show all the components, especially the tube, to show that there was no sign of any wires going through the floor to the tube.

We were given a lift up to the top to see into the system from above while it was running.

Tomorrow, we plan to run the system for a while then empty the tube of water to document what is inside the tube (to show there is nothing hidden inside there). It doesn't take long to empty, due to the fire hose size drain on it; but refilling takes about 8 hours.

I think I should be able to get my webcam up tomorrow (didn't try today). They normally don't come in on the weekends, but they're coming in tomorrow, since we're here. We plan on arriving around 10:30 am German time. The webcam should be available from our PESNetwork YouTube channel. We'll notify via the demo blog if there is anything different about that.

Misc. Notes:

~ 3:45 pm, when I plugged in a grounded extension cord, with nothing plugged into it, using an 2-pronged adaptor, something tripped and the system shut down. (Later, when I told Mr. Dohmen about this, he guessed that the one-prong-only ground connection {usually 2 in Germany} was seen as an anomaly by the circuitry triggering it to shut off. The circuitry is designed to shut off in case someone tries to figure out what is in the circuitry via an outlet.)

At least one of us were in the room until about 5:30 pm, when I finally left to talk in the conference room. We had hoped to stay there and sleep through the night, but apparently that is not allowed due to building insurance stipulations. We plan on watching it longer later, though what we've seen already is strong affirmation in my opinion.

The tube system itself, with chain assembly, is said to be capable of producing 60 kW, but the generator that is presently attached to it has an upper limit of about 22 kW.

The Plexiglas system was not running because a circuit component (they showed us, but didn't want us to take a picture) burned up and needed to be replaced.

They expect to have the 100 kW demo system running in July.

The reason they invited us to see the 1 MW and 5 MW plants under construction in Croatia and Slovenia is that they thought they would be under way by now, but they are not yet.

Mr. Dohmen said he is disturbed by the level of libel that takes place online. "If this were regular business, I would charge the offending party, but with people hiding behind pseudonyms and such, it's much harder." But they are collecting IPs and do plan on being aggressive in pursuing justice, even if it means sometimes metaphorically grabbing someone by their feet and shacking them only to find their pockets are empty.

The charge of "fraud" is libel when there is not evidence to support it. He is particularly upset by some recent very personal attacks that have been made.

Years ago, he made his fortune being a raider (salvaging failing companies) and "retired." The KPP concept actually began for them primarily via a napkin drawing on a golf course, which he put some money behind to get some engineers to work up a prototype. The first working system was completed about four years ago.

Now he's supporting some other very fascinating technologies in their R&D department. I got to see some of the stuff, including a water torch. That one is being licensed out for further R&D refinement before it comes to market.

ADVISORY: With any technology, you take a high risk to invest significant time or money unless (1) independent testing has thoroughly corroborated the technology, (2) the group involved has intellectual rights to the technology, and (3) the group has the ability to make a success of the endeavor.
All truth passes through three stages:
