- Race for cold fusion: Nasa, MIT, Darpa and Cern peer through the keyhole
- Four months ago, Andrea
Rossi demonstrated what he claims was a one-megawatt "Energy
Catalyser" -- or E-Cat -- which produces power by cold fusion. This
technology, also known as Low Energy Nuclear Reaction (LENR), had been
consigned to the deepest cellar of fringe science. Now it's hammering on
the cellar door, and Nasa, MIT, Darpa and Cern are among those peering
through the keyhole, wondering if it should be allowed back in with
respectable science. (Wired.co.uk;

- Production
- Rossi:
Siemens AG Helping with Leonardo Corp with Efficient Electricity
Generation from E-Cat - Frank Acland reports on an hour-long
interview he had Andrea Rossi on the telephone, discussing the
Investor's Trust, the progress on the 1 MW plant, a possible turbine
match from Seimens AG for electrical production from low level heat;
progress on the domestic 10 kW E-Cat heat manufacturing factory;
progress (or lack thereof) on the patent. (E-CatWorld; February

Vows Fight to Defend Intellectual Property - Andrea Rossi
responded to an inquiry about the recent test of his E-Cat mentioned by
Roland Pettersson with a stern declaration about defending his
intellectual property. The full text of his post is below: Dear Martin:

completely changed, new patents have been applied for, an intense
testing program... (E-CatWorld; February 29, 2012)

Commentary
- Cool
eCat Or Fake eCat - Cool eCat Or Fake eCat Some time ago,
I wrote a piece trying to draw some of the evidence for and against the
reality of the eCat. To someone convinced that the whole thing is a
fraud, it probably looked like a believer's charter. The reality is
we are exactly in the same place. (ECatNews; February 24, 2012)
- The
Ecat's Potential Role In The Evolution Of Species - ... people
could start growing more food locally and sustainably, hence they would
have enough to stop poaching for food and income. The E-Cat technology
could also potentially improve sustainable agriculture, horticulture and
aquaculture. When there is cheap and abundant energy, it also becomes
economically sound to recycle human waste ... (ECatReport;

- official site launched for his $1 million offer for 1 kW LENR within a

- The
Smith LENR Prize - It is well known within LENR
circles that Australian Entrepreneur, Dick Smith, is scathing of
Andrea Rossi's eCat claims. After Rossi refused his offer of a $1m
(US) challenge, he extended that offer to Greek company Defkalion GT
who are making similar claims. Mr Smith's offer was

- The Greek government in test of Defkalion's technology
- Representatives of the Greek government on February 24 assisted at a
test of Defkalion's energy technology a potentially fierce
competitor of Andrea Rossi's 'E-cat.' Meanwhile, Rossi continues to
develop his technology. Alexandros Xanthoulis, representative of
the investors, said that the test was conducted on 24 February
and that it was not focused on safety, as the
product is not yet ready for such tests. The focus was
instead to show that there was excess heat energy released
from a 'Low Energy Nuclear Reaction'
and not from a chemical source. The
test lasted for 24 hours and included both an
empty and an active reactor, which were switched after 12
hours. Xanthoulis also said that two of the seven
international groups have already carried out their
tests and that the last of those tests is scheduled
for late March. (NyTeknik;
February 28, 2012)
- Defkalion's Independent Testing Underway
- Ny Teknik's Mats Lewan has interviewed Alexandros Xanthoulis a representative of the investors supporting Defkalion about the
firm's shall we say, Ni+H=E, LENR or Cold Fusion technology independent testing protocol.
On the Defkalion website the report has it said, "Tests with the presence of high level (Greek) government officials have been concluded. Opinions and results were very positive. Announcements will be made upon mutual agreements, at a time yet to be
defined." (NewEnergyandFuel; March 1, 2012)

that the recent testing reported by DGT were safety tests. More
tests will apparently be forthcoming. Prefessor Roland Pettersson,

- Meanwhile, the "cold fusion" saga continues to bubble along. ...Last week the Greek cold fusion company, Defkalion, invited in "high level" inspectors from the Greek government to test a prototype of the device.
...Leonardo Corporation, which also has not yet had its claims of energy production from the nickel-hydrogen reaction verified by independent scientists, says it is now working with the German electrical giant Siemens AG to add an electricity-generating capability to the device they claim to have under development.

LANR Patents - In work done over many years, a Belgian industrial chemist and patent attorney, Joannes Van den Bogaert, had several LANR patents granted in his home country of Belgium. Revolution Needed Can Anyone Deliver LENR to the Masses?
