E-Cat Weekly -- January 5, 2012
This past week saw at least 80 stories on the web, 4 from mainstream
news, regarding Andrea Rossi's E-Cat powered by LENR or cold fusion. The hottest
theme was Rossi's assertion that he is in discussion with Home Depot to
distribute 1 million home heat units this Autumn for less than $2,000 USD.
Reality will probably dictate a longer time-line.

Pure Energy Systems News
Here's the latest compilation of various news items about Andrea
Rossi's E-Cat that have emerged since our
December 29 compilation.
Though there were a lot of stories written by the various dedicated sites, most
of them were redundant with each other; and in my opinion, they are not trying
to be efficient in their writing, but are lavishing over any tidbit, even
writing multiple stories with slightly different angles in some case. It's
getting quite ridiculous, actually.
In this compilation, I'm not going to try to be as comprehensive as I was last
week, but only post links to a representative sampling of the weeks coverage.

- Introduction
One
Full Year of Andrea Rossi's E-Cat - Since the start of
2011, PESN has been covering the emergence, testing, and
commercialization of Andrea Rossi's E-Cat (Energy Catalyzer) technology.
As 2012 approaches, it is clear that nickel-hydrogen cold fusion
technology is going to change the world, as the production of a million
E-Cat home units is planned. (PESN and BeforeItsNews;

Cold is back as hot topic on the non-conventional energy front
- Will an entirely new source of non-conventional energy come into the
market this year? It looks likely. Twenty-three years after experiments
made by British scientists Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons briefly
raised the hopes of the world, ‘cold fusion' – the holy grail of
energy science – seems to be coming back. (HinduBusinessLine;

Andrea
Rossi interview on Ca$h Flow: "I translate pressure as
responsibility" - In an interview with James Martinez of
Ca$h Flow this past December 29, Andrea A. Rossi said he is in talks
with Home Depot for dispersal of the first million E-Cat units this
Autumn. The target price will be between $1000-$1500 US for an E-Cat
with a power between 10-20 kilowatts, to give the thermal energy and air
conditioning for an average family house. (Cold

on Home Depot — Talks, No Agreement - Apparently
Andrea Rossi has got a lot of attention with his remark about being
in talks with Home Depot — and probably Home Depot has been
hearing about this too, and it may not have been welcome attention
from their point of view given the controversies surrounding the
E-Cat and LENR/Cold Fusion in general. I’m sure Home Depot won’t
be making any public statement or clarification about any contact
with Rossi. Today Rossi posted the following regarding the
situation: Andrea Rossi January 5th, 2012... (E-CatWorld;

Would Your Life Change With an E-Cat at Home? - As we look
forward to the possibility of the availability of home-based E-Cat units
providing heat/air conditioning (1st generation) and later electricity,
I thought it might be interesting to picture what that would mean on a
practical level for readers of this site. What differences would a new
power source in your home make? Also, you might think of immediate
consequences this might have. Here are some short term examples that I
can think of for myself, if I had just the first generation... (E-CatWorld;

Electricity With E-Cats! - It all began with Thomas Edison and his 1882 Pearl Street Station – the world’s first commercial power plant. It was a combined heat and power plant, which produced electricity and heat for area buildings. His duel-purpose power plant achieved 50% efficiency.

- E-Cat Powered Motorcycle!
- At this time in history there is a great opportunity to be the first to build a Cold-Fusion/LENR motorcycle! This would be your chance to show how clever you are and get the fame and recognition for this achievement.

- Theory
- Has LENR uncovered a new Physics?
- Nuclear physicist professor Peter Ekstöm, known for criticizing the E-Cat and LENR
wrote: Stoyan Sarges article is really impressive! He can with simple pictures explain so that everybody can understand all LENR reactions that have been observed. They include a full TOE (theory of everything, all four forces joined, something that Einstein tried all his life) and an explanation of the universe’s accelerating expansion (relevant to the current year’s Nobel Prize in Physics).

Year-End Thoughts
2012:
The Year of Cold Fusion? - So, here we are, at the close of 2011
still waiting for Rossi or anyone to prove that the E-Cat or some other
LENR/cold fusion device really works. If the whole thing is a fraud
it’s going to be one of the greatest in modern times. If it’s not,
2012 is going to be the year when everything changes. (Forbes;
January 1, 2012)
Free
Energy in 2011 Prepping to Take Off in 2012 - Though the
year didn't bring as many technologies to market as I had predicted last
year (due to "you're not ready yet, world citizens"?), great
progress was made. We highlight the Top 5 of the year and mention a few
stragglers from last year, as well as mentioning the "Hall of
Shame". (PESN and BeforeItsNews;

- An
Energy Hope Was Kindled in 2011 — May It Grow in 2012 -
When I first hear about the Rossi-Focardi energy catalyzer I was
underwhelmed. For some reason the main thing that stood out to me
was hearing about Rossi’s past scrapes with the law, and I
wondered if he might be some kind of charlatan. It was only after
some discussion with some friends and studying the reports and video
of the January 15th press conference/demonstration that I began to
change my mind. I didn’t find something that smelled like a scam
— we seemed to... (E-CatWorld; January 1, 2012)

Adopts Amazon-like Low Price/Low Margin Philosophy - As I
have been reading recent statements about “killing” competition
through low prices, I’m reminded of a statement from Jeff Bezos, CEO
of Amazon.com who summed up his business philosophy thus: There are two
ways to build a successful company. One is to work very, very hard to
convince customers to pay high margins. The other is to work very, very
hard to be able to afford to offer customers low margins. They both
work. We’re firmly in the second camp. It’s difficult—you have...

Randy
Hekman Suffers E-Cat Denial While Promoting LENR - As a
US Senate candidate, it is remarkable that Randy Hekman is promoting
cold fusion research -- or what he calls LENR (Low Energy Nuclear
Reactions). However, he ignores the reality of Andrea Rossi's E-Cat
technology, despite it being the first cold fusion technology to enter
the market place -- starting with, allegedly, the US military. (PESN

- E-Cat Patent Not In Rossi’s Wish List
- Everyone has a wish list during the Holiday Season and it would seem like the approval of a worldwide patent is not in Italian inventor Andrea Rossi’s list.

- Will Rossi Get E-cat Patent Approval This Year?
- 2011 has finally ended. It was undoubtedly an interesting and exciting year for Rossi’s energy catalyzer technology. It provided hope to many people that give them many reasons to embrace the era of new technology. Meanwhile, Rossi’s battle to get the approval of his e-cat patent applications in the US and the European Union will hopefully be put in place.

- Other Cold Fusion Competitor News
(Typically also mention E-Cat)
Cold
fusion competition heats up as a rival to Andrea Rossi emerges - Now
the E-Cat has rivals in the cold fusion business. Is this evidence that the
technology is real and can be replicated? Or just that someone else wants a
piece of a possible scam of the decade? (Wired;

and functionality allow us to fit 115 rack mounted of such units within

Correction
On January 2, we posted a story: Defkalion Claims "No Problem" with Revealing Cold Fusion Catalyst,
saying, "The former partner company of Andrea Rossi, Defkalion Green Technologies, has stated that upon licensing, they will openly reveal the catalysts used in their Hyperion Ni-H cold fusion systems. This is of course if they even have a working system, or one that is not based on Leonardo Corporation's technology."
Then, on January 4, 2011 we were informed by someone allegedly involved with
Defkalion that they do not have a catalyst in their system, and that their
posting to that effect was meant as humor, as some of the other statements in
that same posting (were clearly humor).
This illustrates the need for professionalism and responsibility in forum
postings, to avoid such misunderstandings. Humor is okay, but it should be
clearly labeled as such, and shouldn't be mixed with statements that could be
construed as being serious.
Important Points to Bear in Mind
Here are a few things to consider regarding recent developments.
- Home Depot
- Though Rossi is in dialogue with Home Depot, these are very early
discussions, with no contracts in place.
- Any outlet like Home Depot would want full certifications (e.g. ASME, ASHRAE, UL, CSA, TUV)
before selling anything to customers, and that usually takes a least a
year, after a product is complete.
- Any unit that is going into a home is going to have to be well
engineered, tested, modified, improved, tested, etc. -- a process itself
that typically would take at least a year under adequate funding and
resources.
- It's after such a process that the certification process would
commence, so you're looking at probably at least two years before you'd
see something like this being distributed by the likes of Home Depot. However, due to the desperate need for radical sources of cheap and clean energy, lets hope that Rossi pulls off a major victory, and obtains the needed certifications in record setting time.
