OPINION
Santa as a Metaphor for God

Okay, this is way off topic from free energy (though I do tie that in at the end). Just something to consider about some interesting similarities between Santa, which makes children and adults smile more during the holidays, and God, who puts a smile on the soul year round.

Notice:
If you are not comfortable considering "outside the box" religious concepts, then it would be best to pass on this editorial. It is not meant to bash Christmas or to denigrate God, just a fun way to look at things, providing a context that might shed some enlightenment, if you're open to it.

In much of the western world, Santa Clause is a jolly ol' figure who lives in the North Pole and is able take requests from children all over the world via appearances made in malls and chapels or by mail, and who then delivers presents on Christmas Eve at midnight, via a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. He magically comes down the chimney (or other furnace aperture) and places the presents around the tree (fake or real or none at all), while then pausing for a milk and cookie break courtesy the home occupants who have left these out for him, before continuing to his next stop.

Putting the anti-gravity sled magic aside, the logistical mathematics are mind-boggling, given that there are 2.2 billion children in maybe a billion households (you and I know that much fewer households actually celebrate Christmas in this way, but that is not the way the story is told to the practicing kids), and the deliveries all have to be made within a 24-hour period, averaging more than 11000 stops per second, which doesn't make for a very long cookie break. And that doesn't take into consideration that Santa doesn't have the full hour in each time zone, but must make them around midnight, plus or minus a few minutes.

Of course those of you reading this have already been let in on the big secret: that though there was historically a Santa Clause figure, and his tradition of giving has been passed on, that it is carried out by loving (and not-so-loving in some cases) parents, guardians, or Sub-for-Santa programs. These vicarious ambassadors for Santa are the ones taking notes of the children's requests (as well as noting whether they are naughty or nice), and they are the ones who do their best (in most cases) to please the children with the appearance of presents on Christmas morning. The mystery is gone, but the spirit of giving and receiving is maintained (except in the case of spoiled brats or deadbeat parents or burned-out care givers, etc).

That said, Pssst, come over here for a second. I've got an even bigger secret to tell you, but don't tell the less spiritually mature adults, because it might ruin things for them, but I think you're getting a bit old to go along with the old tale....

The same kind of situation with Santa Clause is also true of "God".

Do you really think that one dude sitting up on a cloud somewhere can simultaneously listen to now topping 7 billion people putting up several prayers throughout the day, both uttered, mental, conscious, and subconscious; and then carry out a plan of addressing their needs in a way that is for their betterment and learning, in accordance with their wishes for life that they laid out before being born? According to the theoretical model, God is capable of handling all humans individually praying at the same time, several times a day.

It certainly might seem like that is the case, given the miraculous things that manifest in a person's life, individually; which sometimes clearly defy logic or mere chance: the person who phones just when you were thinking about them; the answer that pops into your head, seemingly out of nowhere; the new person that shows up in your life filling a void; the extra-human strength that made an important feat possible; just happening to look at a clock when it reads 11:11; two similar things showing up in one day from totally unrelated sources; the sudden healing from a troubling sickness; a total stranger saying just the thing you needed to hear; clarity of mind to say just the right thing when it mattered the most; taking a different route home only to learn that there was an accident on the usual route.

And of course we are fully capable of dismissing each one of these miracles as mere coincidence -- lest why would they not show up every time we want them? (e.g. the spoiled brat who doesn't get all the presents he asked for.)

Yet hardly any one is so calloused or bitter to completely deny the principle of a higher spiritual power watching over us.

The big secret is that the "higher power" is not one Santa Clause God, but every-day spirit beings who are either waiting their incarnation or who have passed on -- probably usually relatives or friends who have gladly accepted the assignment to watch over us, prompt us with good ideas, amplify our conscience when we do or say something we really shouldn't have, give us that added strength when it's called for, move dangers from our path that are not part of our life course, etc.

And from what I understanding, unlike Santa, where there's one set of parents per set of children, with angels, there are two or more assigned to each person.

These unseen sentinels are under the direction of higher beings, at the head of which is the ultimate goodness and power of the Supreme Being essence depicted in the various world religions, but even that is relative to the gradations of advancement of the angel being guided in his/her guidance over those beings in his/her charge.

As for that thing where the kids sit on Santa's lap to tell him what they want for Christmas, in our analogy those people are like religious leaders standing in for God. Some are more convincing than others. Some are so unauthentic that only the youngest and most belief-struck don't detect the costume. Yet we play along regardless.

"Magic" or "miracles" are only in the eyes of the beholder and are merely manifestations of principles beyond their perception.

To the grinning parents, the mystery of how Santa got all those presents down the chimney and around the tree is something their pocketbook is all to familiar with. No magic at all, but lots of work -- both in obtaining them, hiding them, wrapping them, as well as in earning the money to pay for them.

When it comes to the "manifestations of God," we might not know how the angels do it, but they do, and to them, there is no mystery, just higher principles at play, and probably no small effort either.

And I would imagine they are grateful when we don't act like the spoiled child who didn't get what they wanted, but are gracious in receiving what was given.

If you don't believe in "God" or angels, soon enough (what's a few days, months, years, or decades in God time?) you'll be one yourself and you'll know just how it works.

Meanwhile, you might tone it down in building God into the most awesome power conceivable -- filling the universe, having made it all, just to show off his glory to us. Just think of Santa Clause. Adding extra reindeer, having one with a shiny nose, or putting loop-to-loops in his path might be entertaining to the kids and make their mouths gape just a little wider, but does that change the facts of the reality?

And just as so many parents pass along the Santa Clause story to their own kids, and play the part; so also do the angels go along with our various religious twists of God and his/her power, playing along because it's cute and helps make life more enjoyable.

But in the end, the most foundational principle is the right to choose, which they must uphold, along with enforcing the consequences, including the option to repent and receive grace; and the most important attribute to imitate is love.

Speaking of grace, think about Santa Clause. How many children do you know who are not "naughty" in the course of a year? None. Some more than others. How many children do you know who get a lump of coal for Christmas? "Kids, stop fighting! Be nice to each other!" Yet there are some pretty obnoxious children out there, including among my own children. To a large extent, we look at their "naughtiness" as reflections of our upbringing and a need for additional guidance, consequences, time-outs, love.

Don't you think God/angels look at us the same way? For the most part, they are happy with us, despite our many mistakes. Even the most ornery among us are loved by them, and they continue to labor with us notwithstanding.

And just as one child needs to learn not to be jealous of someone else's presents, so do we as humans need to learn to be satisfied with what the angels bestow on us.

But just as the child can exert influence on the parents through their yearnings for certain gifts, so also can we exert influence on the angels watching over us to bring about certain things in our life. We are free to choose and pursue our dreams, and the angels are there to facilitate what is best for us and the planet.

And I would imagine that angels are given latitude in how they do that, just as parents are given latitude in how they raise their child. As long as they stay within certain parameters, their job as parents is sovereign.

Learning about Santa (being parents, or guardians, or sub-for-Santa, etc.) has some let-down elements for the child first making that realization; and the realization usually takes time to assimilate; and it can even contain some jading as the child realize his parents and other adults haven't been exactly truthful in this matter. But the principles of Santa are true: choosing, giving, loving.

So also, learning about the God secret could be a let-down, but in my experience, truth is much better than fiction. I prefer to know how things work so I can step in and perform a useful function, based on a more clear understanding of things.

As for those of you who are wondering what the above opinion piece has to do with the free energy topic usually covered at PESN, there are several points of relevance. First, as human beings, each of us can benefit by understanding deity better. Second, I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't already know in talking about the angelic hosts working with each of us. But it is a good reminder that they are nearby, and that they are the ultimate source of inspiration when it comes to new ideas and inventions. Third, the new, "exotic free energy" technologies emerging are no more magic than presents arriving Christmas morning. It might appear magical, but it's just because we have yet to fully identify the mechanism by which the energy is harvested from the environment.

And speaking of the comparison, the gifting to humanity of free energy technology seems like a great Christmas type of sentiment, which is also consistent with the goodness of "God" in store for days ahead. There is hope despite the craziness.
