Rossi Gives Reason for Split from Defkalion; Repeats Accusation
As Defkalion Green Technologies Inc. continues to remain silent about the accusation that they have never built or tested reactors, Andrea Rossi continues to make statements -- including the accusation that Defkalion was never given the information to build a reactor. To elicit a response from Defkalion, an open letter has been sent.

The saga of the split up between Andrea Rossi (E-Cat)
and Defkalion Green Technologies Inc. continues as certain key accusations are not disputed, more statements are made on the "Journal of Nuclear Physics", and other individuals speak up. In particular, an email from Christos Stremmenos, a member of the board of directors of Defkalion, has been posted.
For those who are not aware, Andrea Rossi claims that he waited for a period of months for Defkalion to come forward with funds that were part of their licensing agreement. However, these funds never arrived, and he was forced to terminate the license that allowed them to develop, produce, and market the technology. But his accusations against Defkalion Green Technologies go even further, to the point he denies they have ever built or tested a working E-Cat (Hyperion) reactor. These are bold claims, because Defkalion has already declared that working systems have been tested by the Greek government.
If Rossi's accusations are true, they would indicate Defkalion has lied about the progress they have made with the technology, and have been completely misleading the public. This would be damning to Defkalion, would destroy their reputation, and would indicate they are untrustworthy. In fact, it would prove they are not worthy of having a license to market the E-Cat.
The reverse is also true. If Rossi is lying and knows that Defkalion has built working reactors, it would diminish his reputation. The E-Cat technology would still be valid, but everyone would know not to trust him.
At this point, it is difficult to know for certain which party -- Rossi or Defkalion -- is telling the truth. However, it is important the guilty party be revealed as soon as possible. The lies that are being told are harming the credibility of the LENR or Cold Fusion field.
To determine the truth, yesterday we published
an open letter to Andrea Rossi. He responded by telling us to post a comment that is included in this article, but dodged the most important question in the open letter (about his accusation that Defkalion has never built a working reactor).
Andrea Rossi has made additional statements on his blog about the current situation, before posting that he would not be making any more comments on the issue. The following are a couple of his recent statements. Please notice he states again that Defkalion was never given the information to build a working reactor.

Dear Alessandro Casali:
I repeat that the reason of the split from Defkalion has been only and exclusively financial.
As for all the other issue: as all our Readers know, I always said that we would have been ready for the market from November only with the 1 MW plants, while for the small units more time was necessary, for many issues.
In fact, we will start in October our 1 MW plant, and we will be ready to sell such plants from November, as I always said, while we will be ready for the small plants in due time. It is true that Defkalion, which is an entity independent form us, has repeatedly published that they were ready to make a mass production of E-Cats, they also said repeatedly and publicly that they were ready to invest hundreds od millions of Euros. I had no reason not to believe them. I could not know which kind of assets they had, so, theoretically, they could be able to make what they said, after getting from me the technology to make the core of the reactors. There was not reason not to believe. The problem emerged when, after we waited until the maximum possible term, we demanded that the financial duties be respected. At that point it emerged that the financial resources were not enough to go on. This is the sole real problem. There have not been technological problems (see the comment of their chief scientist Prof. Christos
Stremmenos, published here few minutes ago), there have not been personal problems, at all, not counting the fact that I love Greece (by the way: to visit Greece in this season is like to go in Paradise), there have not been problems of delivery, I have already perfectly in schedule my 1 MW plant, while the production in big series of the E-Cats was not my duty ( by the way, I always said them that this policy was completely wrong, for the first 2 years, but they were free to do what they want in Greece and Balkans); the only problem has been that they were delaying from months their financial duties, until it has not been possible to go ahead. Of course, since they have not respected what due, I did not give them any confidential information regarding the inside of the reactors.

Today, PESN sent the following letter to Defkalion, asking them to respond to Rossi's accusation.
Dear Defkalion Green Energy Inc.,
As you are obviously aware, Andrea Rossi has announced that the licensing agreement that allows your company to develop, produce, and market the Energy Catalyzer (Hyperion) technology has been terminated. He claims the termination is due to your company failing to abide by the financial terms of the licensing agreement. This is a disturbing accusation in and of itself, but the accusations of Andrea Rossi against your company go much further.
Perhaps Andrea Rossi's most bold claim is that your company has never built a working E-Cat (Hyperion) reactor. To be specific, he claims that...
- He never shared the "industrial secret" with your company.
- He never shared any confidential information about the "inside of the reactors" with your company.
- An E-Cat (Hyperion) has never been assembled, built, tested, or demonstrated in Greece.
Here are a few quotes from Andrea Rossi regarding this topic.

"Not one single test, of the many demonstrations of the E-Cat technology held around the world, has ever been done in Greeceand no E-Cat has ever been brought, produced, or assembled in the territory of the Ellenic Republic: so not only the technology is still fully owned by Andrea Rossis company, Leonardo Corporation, but it still remains a well preserved industrial secret."

His above claims directly contradict the many statements your company has made. For example, on your website's forum it was made very clear you have designed your own reactors, they have been tested many times, they produce large amounts of energy in the form of heat, at peak a thousand "kernels" have been tested at a time, and the Greek government tested units the first ten days of July.
If his Andrea Rossi's claims are true, it means your company has lied about the progress that has been made developing the Hyperion technology, and have misled the public. I am not stating this is the case (the truth is not known at this point), but it is what Andrea Rossi's statements would indicate if they were proven to be correct.
What I find perplexing, is that your company's official statements about the termination of the licensing arrangement do not address Andrea Rossi's accussation that your company has never built or tested a working reactor. The accusations against you are potentially damning, but you have made no attempt to deny them.
My questions to your company are as follows...
1) What is your response to Andrea Rossi's accusation that your company was never provided with confidential or proprietary information about the inside of the reactors -- what Andrea Rossi calls the "industrial secret" (which is probably the catalyst material and the special preparations of the nickel powder)?
2) What is your response to Andrea Rossi's claims that your company has never assembled, built, tested, or demonstrated a working reactor?
3) Do you have any witnesses that are willing to come forward, and state that they observed working Hyperion devices that your company has built?
4) Do you have any evidence of successful tests of Hyperion systems -- for example in house test data and/or results from the certification testing the Greek government has performed?
The simple fact is that Andrea Rossi's statements and those made by your company are completely incompatible. They are polar opposites. Either Rossi has lied, or your company has lied. It is important for the entire alternative energy community, that the truth about this matter is settled.
Your prompt response would be appreciated.

An Email from a Defkalion Board Member
Christos Stremmenos is a friend of Andrea Rossi's, and a board member of Defkalion Green Energy Inc. On the blog of Daniel Passi, an email from Christos Stremmenos has been posted. It describes the reason for the split up, a test he witnessed of the Energy Catalyzer in which the device mostly self sustained, and he discusses other topics. However, like the other statements that have been made, it avoids the issue that Rossi is claiming that Defkalion has never built a working reactor.

Bianchini) and the production of thermal energy of 10.6 kWh / h, largely self-sustained . The numerical calculation made by Mr. Rossi, it coincides perfectly and is in perfect agreement with my analytical calculation (through a special computer program) that rigorously evaluates the fundamental function enthalpy with general validity .

Anonymous Email From An Inside Source at Defkalion
An anonymous email that was sent to Daniel Passi has been posted on his blog, and it appears to be from an inside source at Defkalion. The author indicates that Defkalion has a working technology and the Greek government has done testing. According to the email, some of the testing could already be complete and other testing may not be complete until later this year.

For all - This is the text of an anonymous email (and as such I have so far declined to publish it) that dates back to early July, and that I received in a round about way. I think she (the author) can be trusted, even if we do not know the source. From the email it can be showed:
1) That the Defkalion is in line to the development of Ni-H technology with what he said so far.
2) That Defkalion exceeded Rossi in the development of reactors long ago.
After this email, I had pre-warned ... a series of reports from disparate sources, which confirm each other, I was led to predict a dramatic outcome of the report by August Defkalion Rossi. I was also told that Rossi had to have found a new partner in the U.S., much better than Greek. And today, by surprise, it's little 'bit of the announcement that we have read. Here's the email in early July of the above:
"Several Defkalion prototype reactors have been delivered to the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy. The ministry is preparing to license the equipment for use in the EU. They have done extensive testing of the performance, and have also checked for nuclear safety. This is a 4-part testing plan costing millions of dollars. The first phase was successful. The most difficult phase will be completed a couple of weeks into August. The other three parts at the end, should be finished by the end of the year. They will have to be completed or the machines can not be licensed or sold.
All of the government testing procedures and results will have to be made public as part of the licensing procedures, and will be published by the Ministry as soon as Defkalion gives permission. Documents describing the testing procedure are available in Greek. I am trying to get them translated. These tests are thorough. The Greek government is dysfunctional and in deep trouble, but the engineers and nuclear scientists in their agencies are as professional and competent as their colleagues elsewhere in the EU or the U.S. There is no chance they have done months of testing and they were somehow fooled or bamboozled into thinking the machines are inputting 450W and outputting 20 to 30 kW. That is out of the question.
Defkalion's reactors range from the kilowatts to megawatts. All have been tested. Being The tests performed by Rossi, Levi and the others have nothing to do in Italy with Defkalion. The people associated with Rossi know less about the testing than I do. Their equipment, and testing equipment at the Greek agencies, is the best that money can buy, and anything is better than Rossi uses. Their reactors also do better than his.
They licensed the technology from HIM months ago, and improved it beyond recognition. They have dozens of experts, and Hundreds of millions of dollars, and a board of directors that would be suitable for any fortune 500 company, with extensive experience in the industry. At this point I would say that there is a trade war (and maybe more) course: just look for some cargo choppy waves on the sea surface and submarine fleets do not see many nationalities who are opposed to the depths unseen. This is why I repeat and I never tire of repeating to those who still are not convinced that we are dealing with new technologies, new energy sources, new physical principles with applications beyond our imagination, which only makes the mistake of not put together all the pieces of the puzzle ... or is in connection with those who fly under water, but this is a borderline case! ;) " |

Whose Lying?
Someone made the following comment on one of our previous stories that is relevant here:
"To the international press conference in Greece (Jun 23 2011) Defkalion representative Alexandros Xanthoulis sitting next to Andrea Rossi told to the press that Defkalion has been the industrial model device (Hyperion) ready for production and it works perfectly. He said also: We got compliments from Mr. Rossi because he waited to develop the final system after 2 years and we have built it in just 4 months. Andrea Rossi was present and did not bring any objection to what was said by Defkalion."
We find the controversy about someone obviously lying to be distressing. Unfortunately, out among bleeding edge technologies, a certain amount of dishonesty is typical, for reasons ranging from: 1) throwing off the powers that be, 2) strategically positioning against competitors, 3) priming the market, 4) ego, 5) protecting bad decisions that could sink a project. We think the degree of incongruity here is unacceptable.
