Magnetic Power Inc. Patent Application Published
Patent describes a Solid State Electric Generator, the first in a
series of Magnetic Power Modules™ that the company says will produce
electric power with no moving parts and no need for fuel.

Abstract:
A solid-state electrical generator including at least one permanent
magnet, magnetically coupled to a ferromagnetic core provided with
at least one hole penetrating its volume; the hole(s) and magnet(s)
being placed such that the hole(s) penetrating the ferromagnetic
core's volume intercept flux from the permanent magnet(s) coupled
into the ferromagnetic core. A first wire coil is wound around the
ferromagnetic core for the purpose of moving the coupled permanent
magnet flux within the ferromagnetic core. A second wire is routed
through the hole(s) penetrating the volume of the ferromagnetic
core, for the purpose of intercepting this moving magnetic flux,
thereby inducing an output electromotive force. A changing voltage
applied to the first wire coil causes coupled permanent magnet flux
to move within the core relative to the hole(s) penetrating the core
volume, thus inducing electromotive force along wire(s) passing
through the hole(s) in the ferromagnetic core. The mechanical action
of an electrical generator is thereby synthesized without use of
moving parts.

SEBASTOPOL, CA, USA -- Magnetic Power Inc. (MPI) announced yesterday,
that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has published the
Company's first patent application for an invention that opens a path to
the replacement of fossil and uranium fuels.
The invention, a Solid State Electric Generator, is the first in a series
of Magnetic Power Modules™ that will produce electric power with no
moving parts and no need for fuel.
The initial application followed the successful construction of a
prototype over a year and-a-half ago. The provisional application
covering this invention was filed January 21, 2005. It became a public
document on July 27, 2006.
Patent applications are routinely published 18 months after filing, unless
there is no intent to apply outside of the U.S.
Patents take many months longer before they are approved or disallowed.
Patents are "pending" once filed.
According to Mark Goldes, CEO of MPI, because the generator has no moving
parts, the design lends itself to both modularization and miniaturization.
These generators may be produced in standard sizes, which are rated with a
given power capacity.
The modular design allows several units to be combined to produce greater
amounts of energy depending upon the application. This is analogous to
combining solar (photovoltaic) cells. The major difference is that the
Company's Magnetic Power Modules can operate day and night every day of
the year without regard to the weather, according to Goldes.
The first product will be Demonstration Devices that sit on a desk and
generate small amounts of electricity. No batteries required.
According to MPI's projection, by the end of 2007 modules that can be
combined to power a home will be in production by licensed manufacturers.
Later, scaled-up Modules will be able to power cars. The first
automotive application will involve eliminating the need to recharge a
"plug-in" hybrid automobile. This is a logical step in the
Company's plan for the ultimate replacement of fuel burning engines.
Automobile manufacturers who become licensees can look to future electric
cars that require no external recharge.
