Krystal Planet announces educational wind turbine program

Krystal Planet will install turbines by Southwest Windpower in three U.S. schools to help the schools save money on electricity and provide a hands-on clean power learning experience for the children.

Adapted from Press Release

Southwest Windpower
turbines to be installed in Krystal Planet's educational program.

LENEXA, KANSAS, USA  -- Krystal Planet Corporation, an ENERGY STAR Partner, announces Monday its plans to construct at least three educational wind turbines at schools in the United States this year.

Three schools will be selected by reviewing applications from interested school administrators. The first three wind turbines will be installed at a school in the Midwest, east coast, and west coast.

These wind turbines will save money on electricity for the schools, provide a hands-on clean power learning experience for kids in science classes, and demonstrate the viability and affordability of wind energy technologies.

The wind turbines to be installed will be the largest size available from Southwest Windpower at the time of installation.  According to their website, Southwest Windpower is the world's largest manufacturer of 400 - 3,000 Watt wind generators. They recently donated a wind turbine to the ABC show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" for a project in Douglas , Kansas, which aired this past Sunday.

Krystal Planet expects that the first wind turbine to be installed through their educational program will also be in the Kansas City. Pending final zoning approval, they expect this installation to materialize by March 31st.

Krystal Energy Corporation, Krystal Planet’s parent company, will pay for 100% of the cost of the turbine, related equipment, and installation. The school will pay a discounted rate for the electricity it produces (where allowed by law) or a modest lease payment.

These funds, after expenses, will be used to develop additional wind turbines and further support The Freedom Plan, a proposal put forth by Krystal Planet's CEO, Troy Helming, to convert America to 100% clean power in 10 years.

For every customer of the FutureWindSM Green Power Certificate (GPC), Krystal Planet donates a minimum of 16% on their behalf to construct a new wind turbine to reduce greenhouse gases and pollution from burning fossil fuels at conventional power plants. The GPCs (also known as Green Tags) from that wind turbine can be sold to others in the community to expand the program by adding additional wind turbines or solar panels at the school.

"We are thrilled to provide these educational and environmental benefits, as well as cost savings, to schools across America" says Troy Helming, founder and CEO. "Although these wind turbines are smaller than utility-scale turbines, we can install them much faster, with a greater impact. Plus, the energy savings will presumably go right back into the classroom."

Helming says a number of schools have expressed interest in the program, and the company hopes to provide turbines to all of them as their FutureWindSM customer base grows.

About Krystal Planet Corporation

Krystal Planet Corporation, headquartered in the Kansas City area, is a leading marketer of clean power products. Effective grass-roots marketing teaches consumers how to ‘Krystalize’ their homes and vehicles, saving $150 per month ($1,800 per year for many years) on energy bills while reducing pollution. America’s 1st national network of energy efficiency experts offers wind, solar, hydrogen, bio-fuels and energy-saving products (some of which are not available anywhere else). Examples include the Krystal Hydrogen System (the world’s 1st turnkey hydrogen system), FutureWindSM (a Green Power Certificate that helps build wind turbines at schools), and the Home Energy Review (the 1st residential energy-savings consultation offered nationwide). All sales contribute to The Freedom Plan (described in the book The Clean Power Revolution) which is a proposal by Helming to convert America to 100% clean energy in 10 years. Krystal Planet’s customers have helped eliminate 4 Million pounds of greenhouse gases since Earth Day 2004. On the web at www.krystal-planet.com.
